봉준호 감독의 '기생충'이 13일 제 92회 아카데미상(오스카) 6개 부문 후보에 지명됐다. '기생충'은 오스카 작품상, 감독상, 각본상(봉준호, 한진원), 편집상(양진모), 미술상(Production Design, 이하준), 그리고 국제 극영화상(International Feature Film, 전 외국어 영화상)에 노미네이트됐다. 연기상 후보에서는 빠져서 아쉬움을 준다.

토드 필립스 감독의 '조커'가 11개 부문에 지명됐으며, 그 뒤로 마틴 스콜세지 감독의 '아이리쉬맨'과 퀜틴 타란티노 감독의 '원스 어폰 어 타임 인 아메리카', 샘 멘데스 감독의 '1917'은 10개 부문 후보에 올랐다. 노아 바움백 감독의 '결혼 이야기'와 바움백의 부인 그레타 거윅 감독의 '작은 아씨들'은 6개 부문 후보에 지명됐다.

또한, 이승준 감독의 세월호 다큐멘터리 '부재의 기억(In The Absence)'이 제 92회 아카데미상 단편다큐멘터리상 후보에 올랐다. '부재의 기억'은 2014년 4월 16일에 발생했던 세월호 참사의 현장 영상과 통화 기록을 담으며 국가의 부재를 드러낸 29분짜리 다큐멘터리다.

오스카 시상식은 2월 9일 LA 비버리힐스 호텔에서 사회자 없이 열리며, ABC-TV에서 중계방송한다.
