'기생충' 골든 글로브 최우수 외국어 영화상 수상

2020 골든 글로브상 수상자(작) 리스트

봉준호(Bong Joon Ho) 감독의 '기생충(Parasite)'가 제 77회 골든글로브(Golden Globe)상 시상식에서 한국영화 최초로 최우수 외국어영화상과 감독상을 수상했다.

5일 LA 비버리 힐튼 호텔에서 영국 코미디언 리키 저베스(Ricky Gervais)의 사회로 열린 시상식에서 '기생충'은 페드로 알모도바르 감독의 '고통과 영광(Pain and Glory, 스페인)', '페어웰(The Farewell, 미국)' '레 미제라블(Les Misérables, 프랑스)', '불타는 여인의 초상(Portrait of a Lady on Fire, 프랑스)'를 제치고 최우수 외국어 영화상을 수상했다.

봉준호 감독은 수상이 호명되자 봉 감독은 옆 자리의 이미경(Miky Lee) CJ그룹 부회장과 포옹한 후 무대에 올라갔다.

시상자인 배우 시에나 밀러가 트로피를 전달하자 봉감독은 "Wow, Amazing. Unbielivable!" "I'm a foreign language filmmaker, so I have a translator here. Please Understand."라고 양해를 구한 후 수상 소감을 한국어로 말했다. "자막의 장벽을 장벽도 아니지요. 한 1인치의 정도의 장벽을 뛰어 넘으면 여러분들이 훨씬 더 많은 영화를 즐기실 수 있습니다"라고 밝혔다.

이어 봉 감독은 "(페드로) 알모도바르 감독 등 동료들과 함께 후보에 오른 것만으로도 영광"이라고 소감이라면서 "우리는 단지 하나의 언어, '시네마(the cinema)'를 사용한다고 생각합니다"고 덧붙였다. 봉 감독의 한국어 소감은 샤론 최(Sharon Choi)의 통역으로 전달됐다.

봉준호 감독이 후보에 올랐던 감독상은 '1917'의 샘 멘데스 감독에게 돌아갔다. 올해의 감독상 후보에는 '아이리시맨'(마틴 스콜세지 감독), '원스 어폰 어 타임 인 할리우드'(퀜틴 타란티노 감독), '결혼 이야기'(노아 바움백 감독), '조커'(토드 필립스 감독)가 치열한 경쟁을 벌였다.

할리우드 외신기자 협회는 올 골든글로브상 감독상 후보가 남성 일색인 점에 비판을 받았다. '작은 아씨들'의 그레타 거윅, '페어웰'의 루루 왕이 강력한 후보였음에도 불구하고, 후보에서 제외됐다. 뉴욕타임스는 "골든글로브 투표자들이 장르를 거부하는 보석같은 영화로 비평가들을 매료시킨 '기생충'의 봉준호 감독에게 트로피를 주는 커브볼을 던질 수도 있었겠지만, 감독상은 샘 멘데스에게 돌아갔다"고 아쉬워했다.

봉준호 감독은 한진원씨와 공동으로 각본상 후보에도 올랐지만, '원스 어폰 어 타임 인 할리우드(Once Upon a Time in Hollywood)'의 퀜틴 타란티노 감독에 받았다.

골든글로브상 시상식에는 봉준호 감독을 비롯, 송강호, 조여정, 이정은씨, 이미경(Miky Lee) CJ그룹 부회장 그리고 관계자들과 함께 테이블에 둘러 앉았다. 이날 디너는 칠드 골든 비트 수프, 킹 오이스터 머쉬룸 스캘롭, 오페라 케이크의 3코스로 엄격한 채식주의 메뉴가 제공됐다. 샴페인은 모에-샹동, 린트 트러플 초콜릿도 곁들여졌다.

지난해 5월 한국영화 최초로 칸영화제 황금종려상을 수상한 '기생충'은 네온(Neon)의 배급으로 지난해 10월 11일 북미 지역에 개봉된 후 1월 5일 현재 2천390만 달러의 입장료 수입을 올렸다.

이날 드라마 부문 최우수 작품상은 예상을 뒤엎고 유니버설 제작 샘 멘데스 감독의 전쟁 영화 '1917', 뮤지컬 코미디 부문 작품상은 퀜틴 타란티노 감독의 '원스 어폰 어 타임 인 할리우드'에 돌아갔다. '1917'은 감독상, '원스...'는 각본상과 남우조연상(브래드 핏)도 수상했다.

한편, 마틴 스콜세지 감독의 '아이리쉬맨'은 5개 부문 후보에 올라 트로피를 하나도 받지 못했다. 역시 6개 부문 후보에 올랐던 노아 바움백 감독의 '결혼 이야기'는 드라마 부문 여우조연상(로라 던) 하나의 수확을 올리는데 그쳤다.

드라마 부문 남우주연상은 '조커'의 호아퀸 피닉스, 주디 갈란드 전기 영화 '주디'의 르네 젤위거는 여우주연상을 수상했으며, 한인 어머니를 둔 중국계 래퍼 아크와피나(Awkwafina)는 데뷔작 '페어웰'로 뮤지컬코미디 부문 여우주연상, 엘튼 존 전기 영화 '로켓맨'의 타론 이거튼은 남우주연상을 석권했다.

골든 글로브상은 할리우드 외신기자협회(HFPA, Hollywood Foreign Press Association) 소속 외국인 기자 88명의 투표로 선정된다.
