서희(Hee Seo), 안주원(Joo Won Ahn)씨가 수석무용수로 활동하는 아메리칸발레시어터(ABT)가 6월 18일 오전 11시 메트로폴리탄오페라하우스에서 어린이와 가족을 위한 발레 프로그램 ABTKids를 공연한다. 

 

수석무용수 제임스 화이트사이드(James Whiteside)의 사회로 열릴 올 ABTKIds에선 '백조의 호수(Swan Lake)' '돈키호테(Don Quixote)' '로미오와 줄리엣(Romeo & Juliet)'과 조지 발랜신(George Balanchine) 안무작 'Stars and Stripes pas de deux'가 해설과 함께 공연된다. 이 프로그램은 5-12세 어린이들에 맞추어 기획됐다. 공연시간은 1시간. https://www.metopera.org/season/2022-abt/abt-kids

아메리칸발레시어터는 2년만에 메트로폴리탄오페라하우스에 돌아온다. 6월 13일 메트오페라하우스 2022 섬머 시즌 갈라 오프닝 '돈키호테(Don Quixote)'에 한인 수석무용수 서희씨와 안주원씨가 출연한다. 6월 17일 풀 버전에서도 두 한인 수석무용수의 공연을 볼 수 있다. 

 

세르반테스의 동명소설을 각색한 3막 8장의 발레 '돈키호테'는 루드비히 민커스(Ludwig Minkus) 음악에 마리우스 프티파(Marius Petipa)의 안무로 1869년 모스크바 볼쇼이 극장에서 초연됐다. 발레에서 주인공은 돈키호테가 아니라 마을의 젊은 연인 키트리(선술집 딸)와 바실리오(이발사)이다. 스페인의 판당고(Fandango)와 발레 테크닉을 결합한 춤이 펼쳐진다. 서희씨와 안주원씨는 제 2막에서 키트리와 바실리오로 호흡을 맞출 예정이다. 이들은 6월 17일 공연에서도 함께 출연한다. 서희씨는 2017년 당시 코르드발레(군무무용수)였던 안주원씨와 '해적(르 코르세르, Le Corsaire)'에서 메도라와 노예 역으로 공연한 바 있다.  

 

1막에선 크리스틴 셰브첸코(Christine Shevchenko)와 코리 스턴(Cory Stearns), 2막에선 캐서린 헐린(Catherine Hurlin)과 애런 벨(Aran Bell)이 키트리와 바실리오로 출연한다. 오프닝 갈라는 예술감독 케빈 맥킨지(Kevin MxKenzie)와 ABT 이사 수잔 페일스-힐(Susan Fales-Hill)에 헌사한다. ABT엔 서희, 안주원씨 외에도 코르드발레에 한성우씨와 올 2월 입단한 박선미씨, 서윤정씨가 활동한다. 6/13 6:30pm, 6/14 7:30pm, 6/15 2pm, 7:30pm, 6/16 7:30pm, 6/18 2pm. 러닝타임 145분.

 

아메리칸 발레 시어터는 1937년 '모르드킨 발레'(Mordkin Ballet)’라는 이름으로 창단된 후 1940년 발레시어터, 1956년 아메리칸발레시어터로 다시 이름을 바꾸었다. 메트로폴리탄 오페라 공연이 휴지기를 맞는 5월 중순부터 7월까지 링컨센터 내 메트오페라하우스, 가을 시즌에는 시티센터에서 정기 공연한다. 토니상 의상디자인상 수상 경력의 한인 디자이너 고 윌라 김(Willa Kim, ) 여사가 2007년 발레  '잠자는 숲 속의 공주(Sleeping Beauty)'의 의상을 담당했다. 수석무용수 서희, 안주원 외에 코르드발레 한성우, 박선미, 서윤정씨가 활동 중이다. http://www.abt.org

NEW YORK, NY – (May 31, 2022) – Swans, sword fights, and toreadors will take center stage as ABTKids comes to the Metropolitan Opera House, Saturday, June 18 at 11:00 A.M. Hosted by ABT Principal Dancer James Whiteside, ABTKids provides a narrated hour-long introduction to ballet for children ages 5-12 and their families.

 

This season’s ABTKids performance will serve up bite-sized excerpts of works from ABT’s Summer season including Swan Lake, Don Quixote, and Romeo and Juliet. In a tribute to the red, white, and blue, the performance will also include George Balanchine’s Stars and Stripes pas de

deux. Throughout the program, audience members will be treated to a live orchestra playing famous compositions by Peter Ilyitch Tchaikovsky, Ludwig Minkus, Sergei Prokofiev, and John Philip Sousa.

The Metropolitan Opera House is located on Broadway between 64th and 65th Streets in New York City.

 

American Ballet Theatre and the Metropolitan Opera House require specific health and safety protocols for all audience members attending performances:

 

• All audience members must be fully vaccinated, including children.
