뉴욕 크리스티가 가수 엘튼 존(Elton John, 76)의 소장품 50여점을 경매한다. 2월 9일부터 21일까지 록펠러센터 크리스티에서 경매품을 전시하며, 라이브 경매는 28일까지 열린다.

 

특히 사진작품을 좋아하는 엘튼 존이 소장(*배병우씨 작품 소나무 사진도 소장한 것으로 알려짐)했던 리처드 아베돈(누드 나스타샤 킨스키와 뱀)을 비롯, 윌리엄 클라인, 신디 셔만, 허버트 리츠 등의 작품, 앤디 워홀, 키스 헤어링, 줄리안 슈나벨, 솔 르위트, 안드레이 거츠키, 데미안 허스트 등 현대 미술가들의 작품, 피아노, 카르티에, 롤렉스, 샤토 라투르 와인 등도 나온다. 

 

엘튼 존은 올 1월 15일 열린 제 75회 에미상 시상식에서 마지막 북미 투어 콘서트인 "엘튼 존 라이브: 다저 스태디움에서의 고별 콘서트 (Elton John Live: Farewell From Dodger Stadium)"로 최우수 버라이어티 라이브 스페셜(Outstanding Variety Special, Live)상을 받으면서 역사상 19번째 EGOT 수상자로 기록됐다.  EGOT는 에미(Emmy-TV), 그래미(Grammy-Music), 오스카(Oscar-Movie), 토니(Tony-Theater)상을 지칭한다. 즉 TV, 레코딩 산업, 영화계 및 브로드웨이 극장계에서 이룬 성취를 상징한다.
