Lighting up the iconic New York City skyline, the 48th edition of the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks will fire from barges on the Hudson River, providing miles of prime viewing

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- On Thursday, July 4th, Macy’s will launch the annual Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks spectacle across the Hudson River, illuminating the New York City skyline through dazzling displays and pyrotechnics. Live spectators and viewers across the nation will be treated to a one-of-a-kind show featuring vibrant colors, shapes, light and sound. This year’s display will feature thousands of shells and an array of effects from barges positioned along the Hudson River with multiple viewing opportunities in Manhattan between West 14th and West 34th Streets and in New Jersey.

“This year’s Macy’s 4th of Fireworks display will launch an inspiring spectacle of patriotic color, light and sound from the Hudson River for the first time in more than a decade. Marking the nation’s largest Independence Day celebration, the display will offer a showstopping and high-flying salute to the nation,” said Will Coss, Executive Producer of Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks. “Each year the talented artisans and specialists at Macy’s Studios work alongside our partners at Pyro Spectaculars by Souza to find creative and innovative ways to paint the night sky and awe our live spectators and viewers from around the country on NBC. Following last year’s first of its kind drone display, our team has been hard at work developing new ways to surprise and delight our fans.”

“The historic Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks show attracts thousands of viewers from around the nation to see the incredible fireworks and celebrate America’s birthday right here in the Big Apple,” said New York City Mayor Eric Adams. “Every year, Macy’s illuminates the city’s skyline to commemorate Independence Day driving our city’s economy and supporting local businesses. We can’t wait to welcome the crowds this year at the show!”

"For millions of Americans the Macy's Fireworks are a highlight of their 4th of July festivities, and we look forward to seeing the incredible display from the Hudson River this year," said Governor Kathy Hochul. "There's no better place to celebrate our nation's independence than in New York, so book your holiday travel now and experience everything our state has to offer."

“New Jersey is proud to celebrate Independence Day this year with a dazzling display of fireworks planned in collaboration with our neighbors across the Hudson,” said New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy. “For the first time in recent years, Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks will light up our sky above the Hudson River. We are excited to work with Mayor Adams and Macy’s to view the country’s largest Independence Day celebration from our backyard as we commemorate 248 years of nationhood.”

A beloved New York City tradition since 1976, the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks is conceived, designed, and produced by Macy’s Studios with Pyro Spectaculars by Souza and will feature a dynamic collection of shells and a host of effects incorporating a variety of colors and shapes synced to a curated musical score presented alongside live performances.
