뉴욕시 보건국이 15일 소고기국밥 내 쥐 소송에 휘말린 맨해튼 감미옥(Gammeeok)에서 위생검사 후 영업중지 명령을 내렸다고 eater.com이 TMZ를 인용해 보도했다. 감미옥의 문엔 보건국의 노란색  사인(NOTICE: CLOSED)과 함께 "전체 내부 수리 중입니다(We are currently in maintenance)"라는 자체 안내문이 붙여졌다. 

 

보건국 소식통에 따르면, 조사관들은 감미옥 내에서 쥐 배설물을 발견했고, 음식이 적정 온도에 보관되지 않았으며, 식당 내에 훈련된 감독자가 없었다고 전했다. 감미옥은 지난 1월 보건국의 등급 중 최악인 C를 받았었다.

맨해튼에 사는 제이슨 리(Jason Lee)씨는 11일 우버이츠(Uber Eats)를 통해 오후 3시경 맨해튼 32스트릿 설렁탕 전문 한식당 감미옥(Gammeeok, 대표 최형기)에서 소고기국밥(Beef Gukbap, spicy ox-bone broth with beef brisket and vegetables, $26.99)을 배달 주문했다. 그런데, 식사하던 중 국밥 안에서 죽은 생쥐를 발견했다. 그는 감미옥 측에 전화하고, 찾아가 항의했다. 감미옥 측은 100달러 보상금을 제안했다가 이후에 5천달러로 올렸다. 결국 제이슨 리씨는 맨해튼 뉴욕주법원에 소송을 제기했다. 

 

**뉴욕한국일보에 따르면, 감미옥 측은 "일단 사실 여부를 떠나 고객 불만이 접수됐기 때문에 통상적인 차원에서 100달러 상품권 제공을 이야기했다. 그러자 이 고객이 먼저 5,000달러를 보상금으로 달라고 요구했다"고 주장했다.
