바이올리니스트 정다솔(Dasol Jeong, 왼쪽), 민경지(Kyung Ji Min)씨가 뉴욕필하모닉의 새 연주자로 입단했다. 뉴욕필은 6일 이들 외에 앨리슨 피어스트(플룻), 라이언 로버츠(잉글리쉬혼/오보에), 앤디 장(바이올린) 등 5명을 새 단원으로 발표했다.
 
이로써 뉴욕필에는 부악장 바이올리니스트 미셸 김을 비롯해 함혜영, 리사 김, 권수현, 리사 지혜 김, 이현주, 오주영, 박수현, 유진석, 한나 최(바이올린), 아일린 문, 패트릭 지(첼로), 손유빈(플룻)씨와 정다솔, 민경지씨까지 15명이 연주하게 됐다. 


THE NEW YORK PHILHARMONIC AND MUSIC DIRECTOR JAAP van ZWEDEN ANNOUNCE NEW MEMBERS OF THE ORCHESTRA

The New York Philharmonic and Music Director Jaap van Zweden announce new members of the Orchestra: Associate Principal Flute Alison Fierst, violinist Dasol Jeong, violinist Kyung Ji Min, English horn / oboe Ryan Roberts, and violinist Andi Zhang.

Alison Fierst previously held the position of second flute in the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. She won First Place in the Pittsburgh Chapter of the National Society of Arts and Letters (NSAL) Woodwind Competition and proceeded to win the Derek Oppen Second Place Award in the NSAL National Woodwind Competition. She also won Second Place in the National Flute Association Young Artist Competition. She studied at Carnegie Mellon University and Manhattan School of Music.

Dasol Jeong won First Prize at the Oleh Krysa International Violin Competition as well as Third Prize at the Mykola Lysenko International Music Competition and at the Canadian Music Competition. She is also the recipient of an award from The Sylva Gelber Music Foundation by the Canada Council for the Arts. She studied at Manhattan School of Music, The Juilliard School, and Eastman School of Music.

Kyung Ji Min was a Semi-Finalist in the Singapore International Violin Competition and won Fourth Prize in the Long Thibaud International Competition. She performed in recital at Salle Gaveau, appeared as soloist with the Orchestre national des Pays de la Loire at Théâtre des Champs Elysées, and was invited to perform at the official residence of the President of South Korea. She studied at the Curtis Institute of Music and The Juilliard School.

Ryan Roberts was a fellow of the New World Symphony and has performed with The Philadelphia Orchestra, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, and The Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. He won First Prize at the National Society of Arts and Letters Woodwind Competition and at the International Double Reed Society’s Norma Hooks Young Artist Competition. A graduate of The Juilliard School, he premiered and recorded Michael Torke’s South, Concerto for Oboe and Chamber Orchestra, with the Albany Symphony.

Andi Zhang won First Prize at the Alice & Eleonore Schoenfeld International String Competition, First Place in the National Chinese Violin Competition (the youngest prize winner that year), Second Place in the Stradivarius International Violin Competition, and Third Place in the youth group of the 2006 Wenhua National Violin Competition. She studied at the China Central Conservatory of Music, The Juilliard School, and Manhattan School of Music.
