2023 고담 독립영화상 Gotham Inedependent Film Awards

셀린 송 감독 데뷔작 '전생(Past Lives)' 최우수 극영화상 수상 

'성난 사람들(BEEF)' 최우수 TV 시리즈, 찰스 멜튼(May December) 최우수 조연상

 

 

독립영화를 대상으로 하는 2023 고담상(Gotham Awards) 시상식에서 한국계 셀린 송(Celine Song, 송하영) 감독의 데뷔작 '전생(Past Lives)'이 최우수 작품상을 수상했다. 

 

'전생'은 어린 시절 한국에서 친했던 소년, 소녀가 캐나다로 이민 가면서 헤어졌다가 20여년만에 뉴욕에서 다시 만나면서 벌어지는 이야기를 담백하게 담았다. 그레타 리(*고담상 주연배우 부문 후보), 유태오, 존 마가로가 출연한다. 올 초 선댄스영화제에서 최초로 상영되어 호평받았으며, 베를린 국제영화제에서도 상영됐다. 

 

셀린 송은 1988년 한국에서 태어나 12살 때 캐나다 온타리오주로 이민해 성장했으며, 퀸즈대학교에서 심리학을 전공한 후 컬럼비아대에서 희곡작법으로 석사학위를 받았다.  송 감독의 아버지는 시나리오 작가/ 감독 송능한씨(각본: 수렁에서 건진 내딸, 태백산맥, 각본-감독: 넘버 3)이며, 삼촌 송길한씨는 시나리오 작가(짝코, 만다라, 안개마을, 길소뜸, 티켓, 씨받이)다. 

 

 

 

한편, 넷플릭스 드라마 시리즈 '성난 사람들(Beef)'는 획기적인 40분 이하 TV 시리즈(Breakthrough Television Under 40 Minutes)와 주연 알리 왕은 뉴시리즈 획기적인 연기상(Outstanding Performance in a New Series)을 수상했다. '미나리'의 스티븐 연도 '성난 사람들'로 노미네이트됐었다.

그리고, 한국계 배우 찰스 멜튼(Charles Melton)은 'May December'로 최우수 조연상을 거머쥐었다. 한편, 칸영화제 황금종려상 수상작인 '추락의 해부(Anatomy of a Fall)'은 국제극영화와 각본상을 받았다.
