주간 타임(TIME)이 '2025 올해의 인물'(Person of the Year)로 인공지능(AI) 관련 기업인 8인을 공동으로 선정했다. 'AI의 설계자들(The Architects of AI)' 8인은 엔비디아의 젠슨 황(엔비디아), 샘 알트만(오픈AI), 마크 저커버그(메타), 일론 머스크(테슬라), 리사 수(AMD), 데미스 허사비스(구글 딥마인드) 등 빅테크 기업인들과 스타트업 앤스로픽 설립자 다리오 아모데이, 스탠포드대 월드랩스 설립자 페이페이 리가 이름을 올렸다. 

타임은 '올해의 인물상은 우리 삶을 형성하는 사람들에게 세계의 관심을 집중시키는 강력한 방법이다. 올해는 인공지능을 구상하고 설계하고 구축한 사람들보다 더 큰 영향을 미친 사람은 없었다"면서 "이들은 인류를 놀라게 하고 걱정하게 만드는" 존재이자 "현재를 변화시키고 가능성을 초월하는" 존재라며 선정 사유를 밝혔다.

12월 29일자 주간 타임 표지의 '올해의 인물'은 2가지 버전이다. 1932년 록펠러센터 건설현장에서 촬영된 '마천루 위의 점심(Lunch atop a Skyscraper, by Charles Clyde Ebbets)'을 제이슨 세일러(Jason Seiler)의 회화와 피터 크로우더(Peter Crowther)의 AI 건축 일러스트레이션을 실었다.

한편, 애니메이션 영화 '케이팝 데몬 헌터스(KPop Demon Hunters, 케데헌)'의 걸그룹 '헌트릭스(Huntr/x)'는 '올해의 돌파구/신인(Breakthrough of the Year)'으로 선정됐다. 이외에도 타임은 레오나르도 디카프리오를 '올해의 예능인(Entertainer of the Year)', 농구선수 에이자 윌슨(A’ja Wilson)을 '올해의 운동선수(Athlete of the Year 2025), 유튜브 CEO 닐 모한(Neal Mohan)을 '올해의 CEO(CEO of the Year)'라고 발표했다.
