Ami Park, Sweet Spot Series - Luba
(Echoes of Silence: Meditation in Monochrome)을 연다.

Statement
Growing up in Korea, I was deeply influenced by my mother’s handcrafting, a tradition passed down from my grandmother, a Hanbok dressmaker. This legacy has made crafting an intrinsic part of my identity, where I see each creation as a preservation of childhood memories, family, and womanhood. My journey from Korea to the United States has further shaped my artistic lens, allowing me to explore the intersections of culture, identity, and self-awareness, while critically examining societal norms and their impact on individuals.
In my practice, I explore the intricate relationships between the human mind, emotions, and physical objects, which I conceptualize as a spiritual link. This connection is expressed through fiber materials such as yarn and rope, symbolizing the continuous spinning of life’s threads and the intricate structure of a web. My interest in the universe as the source of all things guides my work, where I investigate the measurable and immeasurable, believing that thoughts, emotions, and objects are all interconnected, vibrating at unique frequencies.
The spaces I create are woven with sensitivity, embracing countless cultural and temporal interactions as if there is no beginning or end. My work incorporates female-empowered handcraft and reinterprets modern craft through extensive research. The labor-intensive techniques I employ are a blend of intuition and patience, resulting in organic forms inspired by microscopic images, natural anatomy, and biological intricacies. The repetitive gestures of texture and color within my work serve as a meditative process, embodying the spiritual and transcendental essence that drives my practice.
