넷플릭스의 글로벌 히트 드라마 시리즈 '오징어 게임(Squid Game, 연출 황동혁)'과 배우 이정재, 오영수가 제 79회 골든글로브상 TV 드라마 부문(Best Television Series) 최우수 작품상, 남우주연상, 남우조연상 후보에 올랐다.
이로써 2020년 '기생충(Parasite)', 2021년 '미나리(Minari)'에 이어 '오징어 게임'한국산 영화와 드라마가 3년 연속 골든글로브상 후보에 올랐다. '기생충'과 '미나리'는 최우수 외국어영화상을 수상했다. '오징어 게임'은 TV 부문만 시상하는 에미상(Emmy Awards)에서도 기대해봄직 하다.
할리우드 외신 기자 클럽(HFPA) 100여명 남짓이 선정하는 골든글로브상 시상식은 1월 9일 열릴 예정이다. 방송사는 미정이다. 영화는 드라마와 뮤지컬/코미디로 분류하고, TV 부문까지 통털어 시상하는 골든글로브상은 HFPA 멤버들이 외국인 기자들임에도 불구하고, 백인 중심의 다양성 부족에 스타 중심 시상 등으로 권위 및 공정성이 비판을 받아왔다. HFPA는 최근 21명의 신입 회원을 받아들여 총 회원수는 107명이 됐다.
