엘튼 존 19번째 '연예계의 그랜드 슬램' 4관왕

가수 엘튼 존(Elton John, 76)이 미 연예계의 그랜드슬램으로 불리우는 EGOT 클럽에 합류했다. EGOT는 에미(Emmy-TV), 그래미(Grammy-Music), 오스카(Oscar-Movie), 토니(Tony-Theater)상을 지칭한다. 즉 TV, 레코딩 산업, 영화계 및 브로드웨이 극장계에서 이룬 성취를 상징한다.   

 

엘튼 존은 1월 15일 열린 제 75회 에미상 시상식에서 마지막 북미 투어 콘서트인 "엘튼 존 라이브: 다저 스태디움에서의 고별 콘서트 (Elton John Live: Farewell From Dodger Stadium)"로 최우수 버라이어티 라이브 스페셜(Outstanding Variety Special, Live)상을 받으면서 역사상 19번째 EGOT 수상자로 기록됐다.  

 

LA에서 열린 에미상 시상식에는 무릎 수술로 불참한 엘튼 존 대신 남편 데이빗 퍼니쉬(David Furnish)와 프로듀서 벤 윈스턴(Ben Winston)이 무대에 올라 대신 수상했다. 엘튼 존은 이제까지 그래미상 5회, 아카데미상 2회, 토니상 1회, 에미상 1회의 기록을 보유하게 됐다.
