뉴욕시 관광청(NYC & Company)이 5월 9일부터 21일까지 비공식적으로 여름 문화 시즌으로 지정하고, 미술관, 갤러리에서 공연장, 투어, 가족 프로그램 등 다양한 할인 행사를 마련했다. 메트로폴리탄뮤지엄과 클로이스터를 비롯, 뉴욕현대미술관(MoMA), 휘트니뮤지엄, 구겐하임뮤지엄, 메트로폴리탄 오페라, 센트럴파크, 브롱스의 뉴욕식물원 등지에서 드로잉 클래스, 투어, 와인 시음회 등이 열린다. 다음은 주목할만한 행사 하이라이트. https://www.nycgo.com/time-for-culture

In conjunction with an exhibition of works by Mark Rothko and William Scott, the gallery is hosting a discussion with Christopher Rothko, Kate Rothko Prizel and James Scott, moderated by Anita Rogers. RSVP to reserve your spot (free admission); capacity restrictions may apply.

#메트뮤지엄 클로이스터 드로잉 클래스. 재료 제공, Drop-in Drawing at The Met Cloisters, Inwood (5/13)

Experience The Met Cloisters collection through creative drawing challenges in the galleries with expert teaching artists. Materials are provided for this 1pm event. 

The event is free with museum admission, which is always pay-what-you-wish for New York State residents and NY, NJ, and CT students with valid ID. Space is limited; first come, first served. Assistive listening devices with headsets or neck loops are available from the Admissions Desk in the Main Hall. You’re encouraged to bring your own headphones.

Explore the sights, sounds and scents of The Met Cloisters gardens. Learn how medieval plants and gardens served medicinal, artistic and magical purposes while enjoying the bucolic setting. This event is free with Museum admission. Space is limited; first come, first served. Meet in the Main Hall. Garden tours are offered daily from May through October 15.

#메트오페라 '마술피리' Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte (5/19)

One of opera’s most beloved works receives its first new Met staging in 19 years—a daring vision of Mozart’s Magic Flute from renowned English director Simon McBurney. Nathalie Stutzmann conducts the Met Orchestra, with the pit raised to make the musicians visible to the audience and allow interaction with the cast.

#센트럴파크 누가 지었나? 워킹투어 Who Built Central Park? Walking Tour (5/21)

Central Park is human made, but who made it? This tour (May 21 at 11am and 3pm) goes beyond Olmsted and Vaux to shine a light on the unsung heroes of Central Park’s creation and care. Thousands of people, most of them ordinary New Yorkers, took part in the creation of Central Park, and conservancy guides will reveal the mark they made. Finish with a behind-the-scenes visit to one of the park’s operations hubs, where staff carry out today’s conservation work.

Grab your friends and take over The Met for the night. Drop in for teen-only(13-18세) activities across the museum, including art making, performances and music. This event is free and open to all teens 13 and older with a middle or high school ID.
