2013년 싸이(Psy)의  '강남 스타일(Gangnam Style)' 패로디가 지구촌을 들썩이더니, 올해는 디즈니의 블록버스터 애니메이션 '겨울왕국(한국 개봉 제목, 영어 제목은 Frozen)'의 주제가 'Let It Go'의 패러디가 속속 등장하고 있다.

지난 3월 2일 아카데미상 시상식에서 최우수 애니메이션상과 오리지널 노래상을 수상한 'Let It Go'는 블록버스터 브로드웨이 뮤지컬 '위키드(Wicked)'의 스타 이디나 멘젤(Idina Menzel)의 가창력이 발휘된 곡이다. 3월 6일 정오 현재 유튜브에 올려진 공식 비디오의 조회수는 1억2500만을 넘어섰다.

작곡은 히트 뮤지컬 '북 오브 몰몬(The Book of Mormon)'과 '애브뉴Q'의 로버트 로페즈, 작사는 그의 아내 크리스틴 앤더슨. 

이로써 로버트 로페즈는 우피 골드버그, 오드리 헵번, 리처드 로저스 등이 소속된 에미상, 그래미상, 오스카상과 토니상 수상자 클럽인 EGOT 클럽의 12번째 멤버가 됐다.

그런데, 오스카 시상식에서 해프닝이 벌어졌다.

수상자 호명자로 등장한 배우 존 트라볼타가 '이디나 멘젤'을 아델 다짐(Adele Dazeem)으로 부른 것. 철자를 잘못 읽었던 모양인데, 도대체 '아델 다짐'이라는 이름이 왜 트라볼타의 입에서 나왔을까? 트라볼타의 호명 실수는 소셜 미디어를 타고 퍼졌고, 이디나 멘젤은 더욱 유명해졌으니, 21세기 소셜 미디어 시대의 아이러니다.

다음 날 NBC-TV '투나잇 쇼'는 이디나 멘젤을 초빙,  출연해 호스트 지미 팔론, 루츠(The Roots)와 실로폰, 트라이앵글로 편곡한 패러디 '렛 잇 고우'를 방영했고, 유튜브에 올려져 이틀만에 570만여명의 조회수를 기록했다.

하여간 '겨울 왕국'의 전 세계적인 흥행과 함께 어린이, 남자, 클래식 연주자에서 TV 리포터, 그리고 가라오케까지 각종 패러디 버전이 유튜브를 타고 번지는 중이다.

한인으로는 기타 신동으로 알려진 17세 정성하씨와 브로드웨이 뮤지컬 '애니싱 고우즈(Anything Goes)'에 출연했던 레이몬드 리(Raymond Lee)가 부른 버전도 유튜브에 올라 있다.
