2016 골든글로브상 '망령'과 '화성인'에 헌사

비평가 찬사 '캐롤(Carol)' '스포트라이트(Spotlight)' 외면

레오나르도 드카프리노 주연의 '망령(The Revenant)'가 골든글로브 드라마 부문 작품상, 감독상, 남우주연상을 휩쓸었다.

할리우드외신기자협회(HFPA)가 선정하는 2016 골든글로브상 시상식이 1월 10일 비버리힐스 힐튼 호텔에서 열렸다.

제 73회 골든글로브상 멕시코 출신 알레얀드로 이나리투(버드맨) 감독의 '망령(The Revenant)'이 최우수 작품(드라마 부문), 감독, 남우주연상(레오나르도 디카프리오)를 석권했다. 뮤지컬/코미디 부문 최우수 작품상은 리들리 스콧 감독의 '화성인(The Martian)', 맷 데이먼은 남우주연상을 수상했다. 스콧 감독은 '화성인'이 뮤지컬/코미디로 분류된 것에 의아해했다고.

'조이(Joy)'의 제니퍼 로렌스는 뮤지컬/코미디 여우주연상을,  '스티브 잡스(Steve Jobs)'의 케이트 윈슬렛은 여우 조연상을 받았다.

이날 시상식에서 '시네마 천국' '원스어폰어타임 인 아메리카'의 작곡가 엔니오 모리코네가 퀜틴 타란티노 감독의 '헤이트풀 8'으로 작곡상을 처음 수상했다. 가수 레이디 가가는 TV 특집극 호러물에 출연, 여우주연상을 받아 '셰어가 '문스트럭'에서 받은 것만큼 영광"이라며 "나는 가수 이전에 배우가 되고 싶었다"고 소감을 밝혔다.

한편, '크리드(Creed)'로 남우조연상을 수상한 실베스터 스탤론은 기립박수를 받으면서 1977년 '록키' 이후 처음 골든글로브상 무대에 올라 감격해하면서 "가상의 친구 록키 발보아에게 고맙다"고 말했다. 이날 평생공로상에 해당되는 세실 B. 드밀 상은 덴젤 워싱턴이 수상했다. 덴젤 워싱턴은 가족과 무대에 올라 수상 소감에서 "할리우드 외신 기자들과 잡지를 들고 사진을 찍었더니, 그해 상을 받았다"고 밝혔다.

이는 83명의 할리우드 주재 외국인 기자(대부분이 프리랜서)들이 선정하는 골든글로브상의 본질을 시사하는 농담이 아닌 진담. 영화인 6000여명이 투표로 선정하는 아카데미상과는 달리 골든글로브상은 스타 중심의 선정으로 비난을 받기도 한다. 하지만, 오스카에 앞선 시상식으로 영화 흥행에는 실제로 도움을 주는 것으로 조사됐다.

올 골든글로브상에선 뉴욕비평가협회 최우수 영화로 선정된 토드 헤인즈 감독의 레즈비언 영화 '캐롤'과 보스턴글로브의 카톨릭 신부 성추행 은폐를 파헤친 '스포트라이트'가 철저히 외면당했다. 할리우드 외신기자클럽(HFPA)의 색깔을 반영하는 것. 멕시코 출신 이나리투와 영국 출신 리들리 스콧 감독 등 외국인 감독과 스타 편향의 수상은 HFPA이 오만과 편견의 클럽이라는 비판에 직면할 수 있는 소지를 만든다.
