‘Parthibition’ is a group exhibition of eleven artists who live and work in tri-state area.

To celebrate the launch of Space Ciel’s new art gallery and the New Year at the same time, eleven artists will gather on January eleventh to have a group show. The title ‘Parthibition’ represents Party + Exhibition by eleven artists as one, participating exhibition opening on January eleventh. The word ‘Parthibition’ playfully expresses unbound spirit against the traditional art exhibitions and the acknowledgment of the joyful social gathering, in opposition to the word ‘inhibition.’ There are many art exhibitions happening in tri-state area, however, not many of them solely focus on art itself. This exhibition invites both artists and viewers to purely enjoy creative spirit in a relaxed and fun party setting.

Featured artworks are in a wide range of visual variety including neon sculpture, installation art, photography, water color, oil painting, traditional Korean folk painting and collage.

Sculptor Hyoung Nam Ahn uses neon and metal to create abstract sculptures.  Watercolor artist Steven Cavallo captures human figures in dramatic and realistic expression in his paintings. Inspiration of artist Jeannie Choe’s abstract paintings comes from beautiful and colorful world god made us. Artist Sei Ryun Chun’s work depicts process of meditation inspired by circular form in nature. Artist TaiWoong Kang kept communicating with nature through his art, trying to find his identity within nature. Artist Dong Kyu Kim’s hand stitched receipts also representing the journey of proofing his identity living as a Korean American in United States. Artist Sueim Koo purifies her emotions from her journal with bright abstract painting with  and hand painted paper collage layers. Stephanie S. Lee’s paintings reinterpret the Korean Folk Art by connecting it with modern perspective to symbolize the essence of life – the pursuit of one’s happiness – that transcends time and era. Artist Fernande Lipton’s style relates to the graphic geometry of stained glass charged with emotion and energy. Photographer Julie Scholz captures beauty of nature by emphasize details and playing with composition and colors.

By communicating through art in a celebratory setting, this exhibition will suggest the new way to enjoy art and culture.
We are welcoming all audiences and art lovers to the party!
