ArtWorks at the West Side YMCA Announces its 32nd Annual
2017 ARTWORKS HOLIDAY CRAFTS FAIR
Thursday December 14th to Saturday December 15th, 2017
ArtWorks at the West Side YMCA studio will host its 32nd annual Holiday Crafts Fair December 14, 15 and 16
in the Y’s famed George Washington Lounge. The event will showcase over 300 handmade and one-of-a-kind
ceramic art pieces, watercolor paintings, and stained glass and beaded jewelry pieces created by students,
assistants, and teachers who study and work out of the Y’s ArtWorks Studio. The crafts fair is timed to
coincide with the holiday gift-giving season and is agreat opportunity to purchase an original piece of art that
has real value and lasting impact at an affordable price.
The Holiday Crafts Fair is the culmination of the years work of ceramic art created by the following Y’s
ArtWorks community: Manny Ackerman, Vasso Anderson, Jeanette Adelson, Janet Belden, Nan Carey, Sybil
Costello, Lisa Dietz, Meryl Freeman, Diana Garrett, Julann Gebbie, Ellen Gelber, Dave Gibson, Don Heau,
Steve Heurung, Nancy Keyes, Beverly Marcus, Melesio Mendoza, Sandy Miaskoff, Kate Missett, Ivan Ortiz,
Ellie Peck, Outi Putkonen, Nanette Ronner, Robin Rule, Barbara Ruskin, Peggy Shed, Randi Singman, Neil
Smoke, Bonnie Steinsnyder, Julie Terestman, Karen Weintraub, Margaret Ann Withers and Donna
Wielba. Proceeds from the fair serve as both a fundraiser for the Y’s ArtWorks Studio and an opportunity for
students, assistants and teachers to show their work to members of the Y and the community at large.
The “Meet The Artists Reception” on Friday 12/15 from 6 to 9pm is FREE to the public and is an exciting
opportunity to mingle with the artists, learn about their work and share refreshments with the Y community.

About ArtWorks. ArtWorks at the West Side YMCA services the Upper West
Side along community with a variety of classes in the visual arts including
ceramics, stained glass, drawing, watercolor and beading. We have monthly
exhibits in the ArtWorks Display Cabinets located in the lobby of the West Side
YMCA. The exhibits are of work created in the ArtWorks studios both by
students and faculty members. Practicing a craft is focusing for the body,
calming for the mind, and enriching for the spirit -all part of the YMCA mission.
